Phrases such as “Molon Lave” (“Come and take them”, the words Leonidas spoke at Thermopylae), and mottos such as “Pistis – Agon – Niki” (“Faith – Struggle – Victory”), together with relevant dates such as 4 August 1936 and 28 October 1940, are engraved in the medals.
